Prayers That Change Everything - Part 5

Imagine standing at the top of a mountain, looking as far as your eyes can see and gazing at luscious green mountains, valleys covered in trees and living creatures.  The sky, a tapestry of soft pink hues, caressing the morning as the day is rising. Take a deep breath, can you smell the freshness of pine and musk, flowery breeze and fresh dirt? Can you hear the tweeting of joyful birds and the gentle humming of a nearby waterfall?

Are You Afraid to Live

Doesn’t that image alone make you feel more alive, more adventurous? What if your daily life could make you feel this way? We were created by a God who is full of life and full of love. Ahem, He actually is life, and He is love. But do we live like it daily?

Daily, we have to pick up our crosses and follow Jesus. That means, to give up what is ours and pick up what is His: discipline, and obedience. But also, a new identity, torrents of love, and an abundant life that is literally out of this world.

Three elements to meditate on today:

  1. Your new identity. You are not a failure my friend. No. You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, clothed with strength and dignity. You are God’s beloved!
  1. Rest in God. He calls you to abandon whatever is too heavy to bear. His burden is light. Jesus invites us to come to Him when we are tired and weary!
  2. God is not finished with you yet. His Word says, “Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22–23, NIV)

Taking Action

Knowing what we have access to, will we decide today to lay our burdens at the feet of Jesus? Our busyness can only accomplish so much. How about choosing life, the abundant life today? Be bold and make one change today. Let something go to make more room for God in your life.

Prayer: Father, I don’t want to survive, I want to live. Teach me to live this abundant life that You promise and only You can give. Thank You for making it available for me. Draw me closer to You. You alone are my hope. Your love gives me strength. I love You, Lord.
